Since its creation by the Massachusetts legislature in 2003, the Innovation Institute at MassTech has been focused on efforts

“…to create and maintain a more favorable and responsive environment in the Commonwealth for the development, growth, attraction and retention of technology-intensive and innovation-driven clusters of organizations...”
 

This includes support for both established and emerging tech sectors that can enhance the Commonwealth's innovation economy. Today, those focus areas include Advanced Manufacturing, Cybersecurity, and Robotics, among others.
